Perhaps after Monday you are suffering from a bit of St. Patrick's Day letdown. Well, it can't always be St. Patrick's Day, but that doesn't mean you can't get lucky any day of the year. Enter Sean O'Callaghan's, Traditional Irish Public House and perfect cure to the post-Paddy's blues. With three locations in Brighton, Milford, and my personal stomping grounds, Plymouth, you're bound to have a Gaelic old time at O'Callaghan's. Upon your first step through those intricately designed stained glass doors, you'll be greeted by the sights and sounds of an authentic Irish pub. Everything inside, from the fireplace, to the ceiling tiles and the actual bar itself, is genuine, as it was made in Ireland and shipped over. Here, friends are gathered, laughing and clanking their noisy beer mugs, while contemplating which beer to order next instead of ruminating the day's troubles. Here, you'll forget about your demanding boss or cheating husband because with 15 draft beers and 19 bottled beers, you're guaranteed to find at least one to please your taste buds and allow you to just relax. I recommend Smithwick's Irish Ale if you're looking to stay true to the Irish surroundings.

Naturally, St. Patrick's Day is more anticipated than Christmas at Sean O'Call's (that's what we regulars call it). A countdown is displayed and visible to all every day of the year ticking away the time until the big bash. And this year was no exception, with not just one, but two days to celebrate. If you were like most Americans with a job, you can't stay out until 2 am on a Monday night without a dangerously high risk of losing your job, you could have made the trek down to O'Call's on Saturday, March 15th. The bar cleverly calls this time St. Practice Day so you can prepare your body in whatever way necessary for the actual event. On both Saturday and Monday, there was live entertainment by the bona fide Irish band, Galway Celts, and on Monday, the radio station 96.3 WDVD broadcast live from location. If you missed out this year, don't miss out again -- it's a blast.
Pictured: O'Callaghan's features live music, supporting local alternative and ethnic rock talent. Most of us store away the "Kiss Me I'm Irish" shirts and green Mardi Gras beads after the 17th, but don't let that prevent you from partying like an Irishman on any other day at Sean O'Callaghan's.
