Detroit 1-8-7

logoDetroit will finally receive its time in the limelight as the focus of a new prime time TV show, with a controversial focus on crime. This show is cited to be ABC’s breakout title this season.

There has been talk about doing a crime TV show that takes place in Detroit for a number of years, the sad thing is that most ideas never made it past the pilot. Detroit 1-8-7’s pilot was shot in Atlanta in a mockumentary style (think The Office meets any crime drama). Everything must have lined up right in TV land, because D187 survived the chopping block.

Detroit 1-8-7 has something more to give than other dramas. The first to speak of is that the show is actually being filmed in Detroit, rather than Atlanta. So that means that rather than referencing specific landmarks, everything can be shot on location. Second is the amazing cast teeming with experienced actors and actresses:

main characters

D.J. Cotrona (Dear John, Skin)

Erin Cummings (Nip/Tuck, Spartacus: Blood and Sand, Mad Men)

Jon Michael Hill (“The Tempest”)

Aisha Hinds (True Blood, Dollhouse, HawthoRNe)

Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos, Law & Order, Life on Mars, The Lovely Bones)

Shaun Majurnder (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, 24, This Hour Has 22 Minutes)

Natalie Martinez (Death Race, Sons of Tucson)

James McDaniel (NYPD Blue, Malcolm X, All My Children)

(Rumored Recurring Role: Rochelle Aytes (The Forgotten, White Chicks, Madea’s Family Reunion))

The third great thing about this show is that it brings attention to Detroit! So there we have it, Detroit has its own featured crime drama and can be up in the ranks of cities like New York City, Las Vegas, Las Angeles, and Miami.
