Detroit Chic launched in Jan. 2008 with lofty goals and a bunch of people eager to put in some hard work. We ultimately slowed down due to managing and staff issues — and underlying issues with the web content system and page look.
Now in July 2010, over two years later we have a fresh staff, fresh ideas and have relaunched with our new look. Here’s what’s new:
- A monthly print copy, with a run of 2,000 pages (black and white, two-sided) currently. This copy is distributed primarily in Detroit, WSU, Royal Oak, Ferndale, Hammtramck, and Grosse Pointe.
- A totally redesigned page, using new art and the popular WordPress system for easy commenting and page navigation.
- Ads — we gotta pay the bills, and we want to show you cool local eateries, fashion boutiques and more. That said we will try to keep the ads unobtrusive.
- New writers — Detroit Chic has several new writers and a new Executive Editor, Tiffany Kaiser.
